The Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation (MBRGI) and the Mohammed bin Rashid Innovation Fund (MBRIF) have announced the winners of the fifth edition of the Innovation Showcase program, which was organized in partnership between MBRGI and MBRIF in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, covering two categories: third-grade students in UAE schools and university students.

The fifth edition of the Innovation Showcase was won by Edubridge, a digital platform that uses virtual reality to encourage students to interact with lessons, and Nexilearn, a digital platform that designs a personalized learning experience for each student, in the category of university students.

The fifth edition of the challenges attracted more than 100 innovative ideas and projects that showcased a wide variety of innovative solutions in the field of education, and the finalists presented their innovative projects to a jury of experts and specialists from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation, Mohammed Bin Rashid Innovation Fund, Ministry of Education, and Emirates University.

Engaging students

Huda Al Hashimi, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, stressed that the fifth edition of the Innovation Showcase program worked to engage school and university students in designing a future educational process that is attractive and empowering for students, based on its recognition of the importance of motivating students to think outside the box and generate new innovative ideas that redefine the educational model and support the UAE government's efforts to redesign the future of the sectors most related to the quality of life of the community.

Huda Al Hashimi praised the quality ideas and projects received by the Innovation Showcase Program, which exceeded 100 ideas and projects that focused on finding solutions to challenges related to the education sector, designed by school and university students based on their daily experience in academic life, stressing that the participating ideas and projects reflected what the UAE represents as an incubator, enabling and stimulating environment for minds, talents and innovators.

Younis Haji Al Khouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, stressed the importance of the program in providing a unique opportunity for students to channel their passion, commitment and creative skills towards enhancing the educational system in the UAE.

Motivation

Mohammed Al Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, emphasized the ministry's keenness to involve students in various entrepreneurial events and competitions, especially those related to innovation and entrepreneurship, as this plays a pivotal role in developing students' skills and motivating them to make innovation a methodology throughout their educational career.

Taif Ahmed Al Jasmi won the third-grade category for her project “Edubridge”, which is a digital platform that uses virtual reality to encourage students to interact with lessons in a fun and interactive way, providing an advanced digital solution to overcome the issue of lack of student engagement.

In its fifth edition, the Innovation Showcase challenges included two challenges for third-grade students in UAE schools, the first of which focused on developing an innovative solution to bridge the gap between teachers and students.
