DUBAI, Nov. 9 (WAM) Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation (MBRGI), in partnership with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, launched the second edition of the ‘Future Home’ global competition, an initiative aimed at attracting the best architects and designers from around the world to design an innovative Emirati home that can expand and change to suit different terrains in the UAE and cities at a cost not exceeding 800,000 dirhams (AED).
The Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation, based on a partnership agreement with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, will manage and follow up on the implementation of the Future Home competition with local and international partners, while the program will adopt a number of designs participating in the competition in its future housing projects, in addition to providing engineering, technical and technical support for the competition project, through its engineering expertise in the field of housing projects.

The program will make the winning designs available on its DARK platform for adoption by citizens who wish to build their own homes, saving them significant costs and time.
The partnership will foster collaboration to support the development and implementation of the Future Home model to provide sustainable and comfortable homes in a smart, flexible and cost-effective way for UAE nationals who wish to benefit from these advantages.

His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, emphasized the UAE government's keenness to launch and sponsor initiatives and projects aimed at driving the country's urban and urban development in line with the requirements of future societies and providing the UAE community with an enabling and sustainable urban environment that enhances the quality of life.

Al Tayer.

H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Telework Applications, Director General of the Prime Minister's Office, said that the Future Home competition embodies the UAE leadership's approach to encourage people with outstanding skills and competencies to participate in creating the future by developing innovative solutions, generating creative ideas and turning them into projects that reflect positively on society.
He added that the competition reflects the UAE government's directives to promote urban design and create a future infrastructure on a sustainable basis that provides the community with the best levels of quality of life, noting that the government is keen to attract minds and provide a stimulating environment for talents to innovate and create in various fields.

The Future Home competition aims to stimulate creativity, sustainability and innovation, and inspire architects and designers around the world to think outside the box to break free from the constraints of traditional designs and explore innovative ideas that reshape modern Emirati life to design innovative residential models in line with the essence of modern Emirati life, by adopting environmentally friendly design models and sustainable solutions in designing homes that harmonize with nature and minimize resource consumption.

For the second consecutive year, the competition attracts partners from major international companies with a clear footprint in the field of architecture, and is organized in cooperation with Beldner, and the competition adopts a number of criteria in the participating architectural designs, most importantly taking into account the UAE's social culture, the readiness of homes for any climatic and environmental changes, and the use of innovative and sustainable materials in the construction of the house.
The competition also stipulates that the number of rooms in the design must not be less than 3 bedrooms, that the dwelling must be expandable and addable, and that the design budget must not exceed 800,000 dirhams, while ensuring quality, sustainability, flexibility, and speed of construction.

The winners of the competition will receive AED 1 million in prize money, with the first prize worth AED 500,000, the second prize worth AED 200,000, the third prize worth AED 100,000, and the special category prize (innovative design using sustainable building materials) worth AED 200,000.
The jury, which will adopt transparent criteria in selecting the winners, includes a group of architectural experts, including: Charles Walker, board member of Zaha Hadid; Michael Calatrava, CEO, Santiago Calatrava; Andrew Mason, Santiago Calatrava; Ahmed Bokhsh, founder and chief architect, Arki Identity; Will Plowman, Foster + Partners; Ben van Berkel, founder of UN Studio; Alison Brooks, Alison Brooks Architects; and Bertrand Skiban, Alison Brooks Architects.
